One of the best things about being a Trikke enthusiast is meeting, riding and communing with other Trikke enthusiasts. Take Quincy Jeffries, for example. We met at his first group ride, the Last Saturday of the Month Ride, aka LSM Ride, in April, 2011. At the time, the Southern California Trikke scene was on the verge of a sea change, with regular group rides and an intense presence on social media on the horizon, ready to take things to the next level.
So, too, was Quincy, with his newbie enthusiasm, raw talent and gregarious personality. And take it to the next level, he did, always at the front of the pack at endurance rides, bringing his wife, Monica, into the fold, the two of them hosting a variety of memorable rides, he dominating the Lighthouse Uphill Challenge, she becoming a great, inspirational weight-loss story in her own right.
How grateful I am, to know QuiMo, as they’re often called, for they have thoroughly enriched my own personal Trikke world. Two years on, at the 2013 April LSM Ride, I caught up with Qu and reminisced about those good ole early days. In the following video from that day, he talks about how “the ride” has been a growing process and whether or not he’s finally master the Trikke.
